American physicist (1910–1989) and, more controversially, eugenicist, who won the 1956 Nobel Prize in Physics for his development of the transistor. Glossy 5 x 7 portrait photo, signed in the lower border in black felt tip, “W=Shockley.” In fine condition, with a moderate diagonal crease above the facial area of the image and light surface impression.
